Kolkata, Feb 13 (IBNS): Bihar government on Monday kicked off a two-day road show in Kolkata to promote the state tourism in West Bengal.

Ranjan Kr, Forest officer of Bihar Tourism said, "Current statistics say that Bihar has surpassed Goa in the present days with 4.5 lakh tourists visiting Bihar annually. It includes both national and foreign tourists.”

Bihar, which was initially known as an agrarian state, is now known as industrial state.

Some of the initiatives Bihar government took to attract tourists were reviving the Nalanda University, to attract students from all parts of the world, improving tourist infrastructures, building five star hotels and making the connectivity good, said an official spokesperson.

Bihar is also stressing on its traditional food and folk dance to promote tourism, said the spokesperson.

The spokesperson said some of the popular places Bihar government is focusing on to attract tourism from Bengal are Bodh Gaya, Rajgir, Nalanda and Vaishali.
