A recent article on Bihar by Sudip Mazumdar in www.foreignpolicy.com provides an interesting insight into the status of corruption in Bihar; comparing it to the corruption rate around the country. Bihar is fighting it back with success. Economists Bibek Debroy and Laveesh Bhandari in their book "Corruption in India" have concluded that with the power of "political will" Bihar is now the least corrupt state in India. A very promising outlook for a state once tainted with lawlessness and a corrupt reputation.

The book explores the progress made by Bihar. Bihar today boasts the fastest growth rate of India's 28 states with its economy expanding at an astonishing rate of over 14 percent , far ahead of the national average of about 7.5 percent. Bihar's Lokayukta act that gives a five-member ombudsman panel broad powers to investigate and prosecute all government functionaries, including the Chief Minister are many positive developments reported in the State. Many new schools and roads have made home in Bihar in the recent years!

There are five fundamental problems in our structure of Governance they are as follows. Our Government wishes to control each and every aspects of our life for its citizen than empower to act freely. Basic problem with this type of Governance is as soon as the freedom to act is taken away creativity of public is lost in jungle of laws rules etc. Planned control atmosphere does not work always as planned because of limitation of the people who planned it. There should be public opinion should be taken and also consider what is feasibility to govern and how much I will cost and can we afford and it is serving the majority.

First all-women police station in Bihar

Biharsharif: The first all-woman police station in Bihar was inaugurated by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in Nalanda district on Monday. The police station, set up at the district headquarters here, will deal with complaints from women on atrocities, family disputes and related matters. The women police will also arrange for counselling for couples facing marital discords and costs incurred for it will be borne by the complainants, Kumar said. The state government will set up 39 more all-women police stations across the state, he added. Sub-inspector Anju Kumari has been made the station house officer of the first all-woman police station and all cases related to atrocities and other crimes concerning women lodged at various police stations in the district would be transferred to it for investigation, district superintendent of police Jitendra Rana said.
